More silly sketches while watching the Olympics.

The representatives of Kirkwall were the disenfranchised, competing for themselves instead of their countries—but, announcer Varric Tethras pointed out on the first night of the games, everybody loved to root for an underdog. ‘Except for the people who don’t,’ Varric added. ‘But chances are you probably won’t want to spend too much time with them.’

Garrett Hawke, men’s artistic gymnastics all-around champion, whose papers for citizenship hadn’t come through at the last second due to some issue regarding his parents’ illegal immigration to Ferelden.

Anders, who’d been all over the globe but never stayed in one spot for long, whose post-gold interview suggested he’d trained during repeated escape attempts from an unnamed island institution.

Isabela, who attributed her win to the simple fact that she always knew where the heart was—and never hit below the belt because her target was always in the chest.

Fenris, a long distance runner, who never turned to look behind him once during the race; the only thing following his evenly-paced strides was his shadow, and of course the other competitors who couldn’t hope to catch him.

Archer Sebastian Vael, from a long line of archers, but not the favorite to win the event. Aveline Vallen, weight lifter, whose strength was matched only by her steadiness, and simply thanked her father’s lessons with sweat damp on her freckled cheek. Merrill, who’d come out on top in the modern pentathlon, and thanked history, heritage, determination and the naysayers who told her it would be impossible.

Carver Hawke, whose prowess on the rings never quite managed to live up to his brother’s all-around finesse.

Bethany Hawke, whose grace on the beam would likely never be seen again—like a ray of sunshine, she was so light on her feet.

And then there was the scandal involving Coach Gamlen Amell embezzling their funds to place bets… ‘But that,’ Varric concluded in his post-games speech, ‘that’s another story for another day. This story… The story of these games is about the underdog. Unlikely heroes you never expected would pull off a win. And that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? A little talent, a lot of charisma—and not letting anyone stand in your way.’
